BEIJING, May 28 – From May 21 to 28, 2025, China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUP) hosted the "Sino-U.S. May Cultural Exchange Camp" in Beijing with University of Tulsa. As leading members of the Worldwide Energy University Network (WEUN), both universities utilized the WEUN platform to strengthen Sino-U.S. youth engagement and energy education cooperation. A key achievement was the official launch of "JumpStart TU in China" at CUP – the University of Tulsa's first and only teaching site in China, representing a significant milestone in the partnership between the two WEUN member universities.

The camp brought together 34 students and faculty members from the University of Tulsa. Centered on the theme “History and Future, Technology and Culture,” participants engaged in study tours across Beijing and Xiong'an, visited technology firms, and took part in cultural immersion activities, fostering meaningful dialogue and mutual understanding between American and Chinese students. Throughout the camp, participants gained firsthand exposure to China's development landscape and cultural heritage through company visits, lectures, and interactive workshops. These experiences also deepened their understanding of emerging fields such as sustainable energy and artificial intelligence.

During the closing ceremony, Prof. Zhang Guangqing, Secretary-General of the WEUN Secretariat and Vice President of CUP, and Dr. Wang Meng, Vice provost of global engagement of TU, jointly inaugurated the "JumpStart TU in China" program at CUP. This initiative marks a major step forward in the ongoing collaboration between CUP and the University of Tulsa, and establishes a tangible educational platform within the WEUN framework, highlighting the network’s role in promoting cross-border academic cooperation.
